CTC Hosts Annual Jump Start Breakfast
On Friday, September 13, 2019 the Career & Technology Center hosted its Annual Jump Start Kickoff Breakfast. Jump Start is a program where students can earn industry based credentials while still in high school. Upon graduation students are prepared to secure a high-wage job and/or attend a technical college.
More than 100 new students are now enrolled into the Jump Start program at CTC, under the leadership of Mr. Troy Borne. Industry representatives from numerous River Parish Companies were in attendance to build working relationships with the students. Students were told that the breakfast was their opportunity make a good first impression.
Gabe Bland & Drake Boudwin, recent graduates of Lutcher High School, spoke to the audience on their experience in the Jump Start program and how it has impacted their lives. Both young men were able to enter the workforce upon graduating. Each of them studied Millwrighting while attending the Jump Start Program, which led them to jobs at Noranda Alumina in Gramercy.
NEXT 25 Students Honored
SJP Career & Technology Jumpstart Students were honored on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the bi-weekly board meeting. Students earned an Industry Based Credential in Entrepreneurship as well as 3 hours college credit in P-Tech. They also earned a wage for attending school through the month of June.
